• Giving advice on which of our recommended models best suits your needs
• Providing an online catalogue and ordering service
• Providing quotes for customized models if required
• Maintaining preferred supplier relationships which allow Murdoch to take advantage of discount prices
• Receiving your order from the supplier, then configuring and deploying your computer to your desktop

Computers

Purchases made through ITS can be done via our online ordering service. Should you wish to discuss your requirements first, please contact the iT Service Desk (Ext. 2000).

As with all purchases, approval to purchase should be obtained from the relevant person in your Division / School / Office (eg Business Manager, Finance Officer etc) PRIOR to committing to the purchase.

Our online catalogue provides a selection of both desktop and laptop computers (Windows and Mac).

Printers

As with all purchases, approval to purchase should be obtained from the relevant person in your Division / School/ Office (eg Business Manager, Finance Officer etc) PRIOR to committing to the purchase.

Points to consider

Which printer you consider depends on your requirements and the requirements of your work area.

To determine which printer best suits your needs first consider the following:-

• Are additional features such as photocopying, stapling, scanning or others needed?
• How many people will be using the printer?
• Consider sharing of a workgroup printer instead of individual printers
• Privacy issues - does access to print need to be restricted?
• What volume of printing will be required?
• Will you require colour printing?
• ITS encourage the use of double-sided (duplex) printing.

Software

Murdoch has entered into a number of agreements with software vendors to license software for use by the Murdoch University community. Full details of the current software catalogue are available here.

Much of the software that is commonly used in the workplace will be installed by ITS on your PC prior to deployment at no additional cost.
